Yavan, who had been chewing on his lower lip in concentration, glanced up at Menzo. “Hm? The head? Well, yes, I expect it is normal and still the same size as the rest.” 

“Oh. I… No. I meant about it… Not being here.” 

“Ah. Well… Not as far as I know.” 

Menzo’s tongue felt thick and pasty in his dry mouth. The darkness seemed to creep up around him and the cold seeped into his bones. “So… we want to find it. The missing head.” 

“Yes, I daresay it should be somewhere close by.” 

“What if… What if we don’t find it?” 

“I like to take things one at a time when I can.”

The archer nodded slowly and looked back towards the construct that shined eerily under the blue moonlight. His imagination began running rampant with visions of bones beginning to move of their own volition, twisting and clicking in the empty air, shimmering with the haunt of the thick muscles and fur that had coated the huge carcass. He could see the skeleton rise, towering over them, terrible and headless…
